CStory ("we," "our," or "us") values your privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our mobile application ("App").
By using CStory, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Subscription and account data
Information provided by Apple App Store or Google Play regarding your subscription (purchase history, renewal, cancellation, status).
Usage, device, and app-event data
We use Amplitude, a third-party analytics service, to understand how the App is used. This may include: device or installation identifiers as allowed by the platform, app version, language and region, and usage events such as app opens, which stories are played or completed, subscription-related events (e.g., purchase attempts, successes, or restores), paywall interactions, and similar product interaction data. We do not require you to provide your name, email, or phone number to use the App.
We also use Meta Platforms, Inc. (“Meta”) services, including the Facebook SDK and related technologies, to send app events to Meta (for example: app activation, content or paywall views, checkout initiation, free-trial start, subscription or purchase-related events, and other events we configure in the App). Meta may use this information to help us measure the effectiveness of advertising, attribute installs and actions to ad campaigns, and optimize how we promote the App. The categories of data sent and how Meta processes them are described in Meta’s Data Policy and related disclosures, and may depend on your device settings and app configuration.
App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
On supported devices, we may request permission to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites, as described in Apple’s prompt, to support advertising measurement and attribution with Meta and similar partners. If you allow tracking, Meta may receive additional identifiers (such as the advertising identifier where permitted) to improve measurement. If you do not allow tracking, we still send certain app events as described above, but measurement may be more limited. You can change your choice later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iOS device (or equivalent on other platforms where applicable).
We may collect crash or diagnostic-related information to improve stability.
Permissions
Audio playback – required to play Bible story audio files.
Background audio – required to continue playback while the screen is off or when switching apps.
We do not access your microphone or record your voice. Permissions are used solely to enable playback functionality.
2. How We Use Information
To provide subscription access and verify entitlements.
To deliver Bible story content and related features.
To analyze usage (e.g., which stories are popular, how the App is used) so we can improve performance and user experience.
To measure and improve our marketing and advertising on Meta and partner platforms, including by using app events and related data sent through Meta’s services, and where you have allowed it, data made available through Apple’s tracking permission framework as described in this Policy.
To maintain security, prevent fraud, and ensure service stability.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not use Amplitude’s data to show you ads in other companies’ apps or websites; Amplitude is used for product analytics as described in Section 4.
3. Data Storage and Security
Data is transmitted securely and protected with technical safeguards.
Local data (favorites, playback history) is stored on your device only.
We do not store or access your full payment credentials; in-app purchases are processed by Apple or Google.
Analytics data is retained only as long as necessary for analysis and improvement or as required by law.
4. Data Sharing
We share information only as described in this Policy. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share data with data brokers for their independent marketing lists.
Information may be shared:
With Amplitude – strictly to analyze how the App is used and to improve the product, under Amplitude’s terms and our instructions.
With Meta – to provide the app-event and measurement services described above (including advertising measurement, attribution, and optimization). Meta processes such information under Meta’s Data Policy and other terms, which we encourage you to read. You may be able to adjust certain Meta-related preferences through your device settings or Meta’s tools (for example, Meta’s ad settings), where available.
As required by law or legal process.
In connection with business transfers (e.g., merger, acquisition, or restructuring), subject to appropriate safeguards.
5. User Rights
Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings.
Request information, correction, or deletion of your data where applicable by contacting us (see Section 11).
Stop collection of data through our App by uninstalling the App.
Depending on your region, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, portability, objection). Contact us to exercise your rights.
Advertising identifiers and tracking
Meta’s services may involve identifiers and measurement technologies governed by Apple, Google, and Meta policies. Our App Store privacy disclosures and, where applicable, our Privacy Manifest describe how we categorize data collection for Apple’s requirements. Where Apple’s App Tracking Transparency applies, we request permission through the system prompt when required; your choice is stored by the system and can be changed in device settings.
6. International Transfers
Data may be processed in other countries (e.g., the United States) for hosting, analytics, advertising measurement, or error reporting. Appropriate safeguards are applied to protect your data where required by law.
7. System API Access
Our App accesses the following system APIs only for essential functionality:
File Timestamp APIs – for managing and organizing audio files.
System Boot Time APIs – for performance monitoring and optimization.
User Defaults APIs – for saving user preferences locally on the device.
Audio Session APIs – for audio playback and background functionality.
API access is limited to core app functionality. Additional detail may appear in platform-required disclosures (e.g., a privacy manifest).
8. Privacy Manifest and App Store Disclosures
Our App may include a Privacy Manifest and other disclosures required by Apple App Store or Google Play. Those files summarize certain categories of data collection and access for platform rules. This Privacy Policy is the full description of our practices; if anything in a short summary or manifest differs in scope, this Policy controls. We may update the manifest or store labels when our practices or platform rules change.
9. Data Minimization
We collect and process only the data reasonably needed to operate the App, provide subscriptions, improve the product, and measure marketing as described above. We do not ask you for contact information or payment card numbers in the App; payments are handled by Apple or Google.
10. Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted within the App and on our website; continued use after the effective date of changes indicates acceptance. Material changes may be highlighted in the App or by other reasonable means.
